In this article, I'll show you how to write your academic papers efficiently by using the great tool called <strong>Zotero<\/strong> . At the end, you insert a bibliography with a single click, and you\u2019re ready to submit. Zotero is very similar to Citavi, but the licence for Citavi at DHBW has now expired. That is why DHBW specifically recommends Zotero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step-by-step instructions for using Zotero at FOM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Installing Zotero<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To use Zotero, you must first <strong>download<\/strong> and <strong>install<\/strong>Zotero. Visit the official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Zotero<\/strong><\/a>website, download the application and install it on your computer. Zotero is available for Windows, Mac and Linux alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/citationstyler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/brizy\/imgs\/zotero.org-download-538x300x0x0x538x300x1697099391.png\" alt=\"Zotero von zotero.org runterladen\" title=\"zotero.org download\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Setting up your account<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the installation <strong>create<\/strong> a <strong>Zotero<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>account<\/strong> . This allows you to share your literature data between your different devices like <strong>with a tablet or mobile\u00a0<\/strong>but also safely <strong>store your library<\/strong>. Please do not skip this step!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zotero offers a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Download this extension to import your <strong>sources directly<\/strong> from the <strong>internet<\/strong> \u00a0to <strong>your library<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: The Zotero browser extension<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zotero automatically recognises <strong>the metadata<\/strong>while you surf the internet. Do you need an article from JSTOR or a preprint from arXiv.org? An article from the New York Times or a book from the National Library? Zotero is your companion, wherever you go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simply open the following page and click on \"Install\": <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/download\/connectors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zotero Connector<\/a> (available for all common browsers)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/citationstyler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/zotero-Browser-connector-installieren.png\" alt=\"Installing the Zotero Browser Connector\" title=\"Installing the Zotero Browser Connector\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Add your literature sources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have installed the extension, you can easily import literature sources from websites, online libraries and catalogues. Your sources are automatically organised in your <strong>Zotero<\/strong>&#8211; <strong>library after import<\/strong>. See in the below picture in the top right corner, Zotero automatically detects <strong>the item type<\/strong> and you can select the collection in which you want to save the item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To make this even easier for you, I\u2019m providing the following public <strong>library<\/strong> that will <strong>guide you on<\/strong>how to enter your metadata correctly, in order to have footnotes and bibliography render correctly. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/groups\/2583327\/fom_zitierbeispiele\/library\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/groups\/2583327\/fom_zitierbeispiele\/library<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/citationstyler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Quelle-aus-dem-Browser-importieren.png\" alt=\"Importing a source in your browser with Zotero\" title=\"Importing a source in your browser with Zotero\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Install Word Processor Integration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zotero creates <strong>citations<\/strong> in your text or footnotes and bibliographies for any text editor, directly in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs. This integration is automatically installed for you when you install Zotero, regardless of whether you use Word or another supported programme. You will find a new <strong>tab<\/strong> called <strong>Zotero<\/strong> in the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/citationstyler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/brizy\/imgs\/zotero-plugin-in-word-538x366x0x0x538x300x1730800535.png\" alt=\"Zotero Add-on in Word\" title=\"Zotero Add-on in Word\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/download\/connectors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><br><br><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If this tab does not appear, you can reinstall the extension. To do this, simply scroll down in Zotero's settings under \"Citation\" and under \"Word processing programs\" you can click on \"Reinstall Microsoft Word Add-on\". For some universities <strong>FOM<\/strong> I also offer custom <strong>citation styles<\/strong>. You can also use the following <a href=\"https:\/\/citationstyler.com\/en\/client-sync-setup\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"15398\">guide \"Citation Styler Client Sync \u2013 Setup &amp; Use\"<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 7: Create citations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can then start working on your document right away!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/citationstyler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/brizy\/imgs\/zitieren-mit-word-FOM-538x312x0x0x538x300x1730800536.png\" alt=\"An der FOM korrekt mit CSL und Zotero zitieren\" title=\"An der FOM korrekt mit CSL und Zotero zitieren\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simply click on \"Add\/edit Citation\" and you will be asked which style you want to select. Then select your source and your footnote\/citation will be generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can then add the bibliography at the end. To do this, simply position the cursor and click on the \u2018Add\/Edit Bibliography\u2019 button.
