FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
How can I install the citation style in Zotero? (for other software please consult the manufacturer)
Option 1: Double click on the file. Zotero should automatically recognise and install the .csl file.
Option 2:In Zotero, go to "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Cite" > "Styles". Click on the "+" and select the .csl file.
How to install the citation style in Mendeley Desktop? (for other software please consult the manufacturer)
1. in Mendeley, "View" > "Citation Style" > "More Styles".
2. drag the downloaded .csl file into the field.
3. now the style can be selected in the Word/LibreOffice plugin.
I can't install the style in "Mendeley Reference Manager/Mendeley Cite"?
With 2020 Mendeley has released a new version, the so-called Mendeley Reference Manager+Mendeley Cite. However, this cannot yet install custom styles like this one. I therefore recommend either using "Mendeley Desktop" or switching directly to Zotero. This is much easier to use and has much better support.
"vgl." is missing?
This can be added in Zotero using the prefix field. To do this, click on the citation in Word and a field will appear to enter the prefix and suffix, as well as the exact page number.
"(Hrsg., 2007)" is not together in brackets?
Unfortunately, CSL has technical limits here and this cannot be automated. The missing bracket must be entered manually in the paper before submission. To do this, unlink the citations in a copy(!!) of the paper in order to transform the citations into normal text that can then be edited.
My footnote numbering style is incorrect. How can I change it?
The footnote numbering is NOT managed by the citation style, but by Word. You can therefore change this yourself in Word. The citation style has no control over this. Please seek Word-specific help for this.
Found an error?
With complex styles such as this, it can easily lead to discrepancies in special cases. Please consult the citation guidelines first and use a working example to check whether the data is entered correctly in Zotero. If it still looks like the style itself has an error, please write to me via [email protected].
